Andy Warhol’s estate selling off last artworks

The Wall Street Journal has reporting that the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, which oversees the deceased artist’s estate, will be selling off the rest of his estate at an upcoming auction. For example, an Andy Warhol silkscreen of actor Marlon Brando is expected to sell for $20 million.  There are an estimated 20,000 works in the estate which could be worth over $100 million in sales.  Christie’s auction house will oversee the sale of the collection.  To artworks include silk-screen paintings, drawings, prints, collages, photographs to name a few.  See full article

According to New York Surrogate’s Courts, a valid will can transfer an interest in both personal property (e.g. bank accounts, furniture, stocks, clothing) and real property (such as real estate).  A will also allows a person to name an individual to serve as an executor of the estate and guardian over the children.  Moreover, a will can provide protection for family members (for example, trusts for adult incompetent children).   See
